🚀 Beginner's Guide to Abyss
Welcome to the deep sea! This guide will help you get started in Roblox Abyss, covering everything from catching your first fish to upgrading your gear and conquering the ocean depths.
Quick Start Checklist
- Complete the tutorial and talk to all NPCs on the starting island
- Catch and sell fish to earn money
- Buy better Tubes and Guns from the shops
- Complete quests from the Kraken, Mr. Black, Virelia, and the Scientist
- Unlock the Teleporter for fast travel between biomes
How to Progress Fast
1. Finish Quests for Rewards
Quests are the fastest way to earn XP and money early on. Accept every quest available from NPCs like the Kraken, Mr. Black, Virelia, and the Scientist. Quest rewards grant large amounts of XP and money, making them far more efficient than grinding fish alone.
2. Catch and Sell Fish
Selling fish to the Kraken is your main source of income. Focus on catching the most common fish in each area first — they provide decent XP and money while being easy to reel in. As you upgrade your gear, you can target rarer and more valuable catches.
Fish with mutations sell for significantly more thanks to their multipliers. Keep an eye out for mutated fish — even a common fish with an Abyssal mutation (8.5× multiplier) can be worth more than a rare normal fish.
3. Manage Your Oxygen
Running out of oxygen means death, and dying costs you money and some of your caught fish. Always keep an eye on your oxygen meter and surface before it gets too low. Upgrading to better Tubes increases your oxygen capacity and lets you stay underwater longer.
4. Upgrade Your Gear
Your two most important pieces of equipment are Tubes and Guns. Tubes determine your oxygen capacity, max depth, speed, and weight limit. Guns determine how quickly you can weaken fish to catch them.
Always equip new gear immediately after purchasing — it won't auto-equip! Prioritize Tube upgrades first since they allow you to dive deeper and carry more fish.
5. Open Treasure Chests
Treasure chests are scattered throughout each biome. Opening them grants small amounts of XP, money, and Star Shards. While not the most efficient way to progress, they're worth grabbing whenever you swim past one.
Progressing Tips
Complete All Quests in the Starting Area
Before venturing deeper, focus on completing all questlines in the Forgotten Deep (the starting area). The Kraken, Mr. Black, Virelia, and the Scientist each have quest chains that provide substantial rewards and teach you core game mechanics.
Always Catch Lower-Tier Fish First
The first fish available in each new area offers good XP and money relative to how easy they are to catch. Don't immediately chase the rarest fish — build up your funds by catching easier ones first, then upgrade your gear for the harder catches.
Equip Your Best Artifacts
Don't overlook Artifacts! They provide passive stat boosts like increased oxygen, fishing speed, or luck. You can obtain Artifacts by cracking Geodes at Virelia's station. Always equip the ones with the best stats for your current playstyle.
Unlock the Teleporter Early
One of the first things you should do is talk to the Scientist and complete his quest to unlock the Teleporter. This allows fast travel between areas, saving you a lot of time as you explore deeper biomes.
Reroll Races for Better Bonuses
Races grant passive bonuses like extra speed, damage, or oxygen. Use Star Shards to reroll your race for better bonuses. There's a pity system: after 20 rerolls you're guaranteed an Epic race, and after 50 rerolls a Legendary one.
